Since the eruption of COVID-19, everything has changed. Children are instructed to attend classes online rather than attending schools. Employees that can work remotely are been given the facility of working from home instead of coming to offices. Though all of this has given us a great opportunity to strengthen our family bonds and be with each other through this tough time, which previously suffered due to long working hours and late-night shifts. But rather than taming our routines and making an organized schedule for ourselves, our time during quarantine is being spent relaxing on the sofa, working and eating on the bed, and snacking in front of the TV. This unhealthy lifestyle did feel quite amazing for a few days but now it has become a core source of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and stress.

To keep our family, sleep, and work healthy we need to come up with a set of rules. This pandemic is serious and it not only has pervasive effects on the economy but also on our social interactions. So, in order to make things a little normal and scheduled within our houses, we need to come up with a suitable plan that makes us see the positive in every bad situation and find a solution to every problem.

Devise A Routine:

Maintaining a routine is crucial to make a healthy environment at home. We know this situation is difficult for all the working and stay at home parents. So sit your family down and plan a schedule together. Note down everyone’s preferences on paper and create a doable plan that works with all the set tasks. Keep these pointers in mind while devising a plan:

  • Wakeup time
  • Already sorted tasks of the day
  • Eating plan
  • Snack time
  • Fun and family bonding activities
  • Bed time and before Bed routine

Understand The Importance Of Light Exposure:

Quarantine has increased the chances of vitamin D deficiency and other diseases that come with it. To combat this, it is advised to take a walk in the evening or early in the morning whether it be on your roof, terrace or in your garden. Absorb the sunlight to naturally disinfect your body and keep yourself active. Exposure to the sun also keeps your inner clock on schedule helping you keep work, sleep, and other activities aligned.

Be Careful With Your Diet:

Taking care of yourself and your family’s diet is as important as hygiene and social distancing. Since quarantine has restricted us to our homes and limited our physical activities; we need to be extremely disciplined with our eating habits.

Sleep Schedule:

Maintaining a healthy sleep schedule is important. As with quarantine, depression, anxiety, and other such silent issues have seeped into our lives. A healthy sleep schedule is required to keep you positive. Since we are spending a great amount of time at home we need to get ourselves comfortable sleeping and working solutions that help us have a peaceful rejuvenating sleep.

According to a survey, about 93% of people say that a comfortable mattress plays a crucial role in providing a quality night’s sleep. A wrong mattress that doesn’t fit your sleeping needs can cause damage to your body’s mental and physical health. Good sleep also plays a great role in strengthening the immune system. So, create a comfortable sleep sanctuary for yourself and your children to stay healthy during this pandemic.
